  Amino Acids And Your Health

About Amino Acids

Amino acids are considered the building blocks of protein. Amino acids are used in all body cells and are necessary for the body to function. The protein in your body if it is digested will form amino acids. The usual way to get your supply is through the food you eat and because of this it's better to eat a high quality of protein. The protein is broken down in the stomach and when this happens amino acids are formed.

The Two Types of Amino Acids

There are two types of amino acids essential and non essential. The essential amino acids cannot be made in the body and must come from another source; this would be from food, such as protein foods and supplements. The nonessential amino acids are produced by our bodies but they also can be taken as steroids supplements.

The Benefits of Taking Amino Acids

The amino acids sustain life without them we could not function. They do muscle repair, they are in nails, hair, glands, etc... They are in every cell in our body. Any type of deficiency will affect the health of the person with the deficiency, sometimes very severely and sometimes moderately. Its not only people who have a deficiency that take supplements, some people do it to improve their health in general or gain strength, endurance, build up the immune system and bodybuilders use it to build muscle and shed fat.

Taking a Look at Some of Them

There are twenty amino acids found in proteins and they all have their own special functions. If you need an antioxidant try N-acetyl, cysteine is good for immune function. It might be good if there is a flu going around.

Acetyl-L Carnitine helps turn food into energy, in some studies there has been evidence that it slows Alzheimer's disease, it enhances performance. This amino acid is found in the brain and other tissues. Acetyl –L Carnitine seems to decrease as we age. It's usually safe to take. L-Isoleucine is metabolized in the tissues of muscle, it builds up your immune system, it produces antibodies ans metabolizes blood sugar.

L-Alanine is used by the brain for fuel and it's also used as fuel by muscle tissue. It builds up your immune system and produces antibodies, metabolizes sugars. L-Leucine is metabolized in muscle tissue and helps heal bones that have been broken, it's good for the skin. Will lower high blood pressure. L-Valine is metabolized in the liver and is used in severe cases of amino acid deficiency.
