Creatine - A Healthy Substitute to Steroids

Many athletes consider creatine as a healthy substitute to steroids. Creatine is found and produced by the human body and because of this; companies do not classify creatine as a drug. In fact, some countries regard creatine as food supplement. Arginine, Glycine and Methionine make up creatine. These three are amino acids which are produced by your pancreas and kidney. Once these three amino acids are produced, the liver combines the three and creates creatine. Fish and beef will allow a person to easily produce creatine but to experience a real boost of creatine in the body, one needs to take creatine.

Creatine allows athletes to have better and longer workouts because it actually enhances muscle growth and increases muscles energy. Creatine hydrates the muscles in the body.  Creatine is able to regenerate the muscle’s source of energy which is adenosine triphosphate of ATP.

Not only does creatine help in muscle building, it also gives athletes quicker reflexes. Many studies have been conducted to determine the effects of increased levels of creatine in the body. These studies had positive results. The energy levels of the athletes increased, it also increased their endurance, recovery rate and over all strength. Aside from that, creatine allows athletes to get lean body mass while fat loss is greatly accelerated.

Studies also show that there are no harmful effects of creatine in the body. One does not have to worry about taking creatine since creatine is already part of the human body. Muscles normally have 3-4 grams of creatine and the maximum amount that muscles can contain is 5 grams. This means that if there is more than 5 grams then the body will treat it as waste.

One may ask about the proper dosage of creatine. There are companies recommend athletes to take 20-30 grams of creatine per day during the first week of trying it out. Why? This procedure is called loading and the purpose of doing such is to load the body with creatine. There is another method wherein you would take creatine for a month and quit. After one week, you can return to taking in creatine. The purpose of this method is not to make your body dependent on creatine that you took in. Once your body becomes dependent, it will not produce creatine anymore.

To realize your muscle’s maximum potential, you can take creatine additives and begin to notice the advantageous effects. Know the proper way to take creatine and never experiment with your body.
