Powerlifting and Bodybuilding are two great sports that we know but we can seldom tell apart. Although they make look the same to most of us there are however several differences between the two like their diet, training and supplement. Bodybuilders are more conscious in their diets than power lifters because they need to keep their fat intake to a minimum level. Their diets consist of healthy fat source, multivitamin and supplements. Preparations before the contest are primarily for body toning and rigid twelve week diet.
Powerlifting is stressful and strenuous than bodybuilding supplements. They need to undergo numerous phases in their training compared to bodybuilders but these athletes enjoy certain perks regarding their diet. Generally they are free to eat anything as long as it is healthy and they do not need to concern themselves about fat intake unless they already gained too much body fat. You can seldom see them in low fat diet. They do not have to undergo the rigid twelve week severe dieting that bodybuilders have to endure.
The types of food allowed are rich in creatine, ZMA, protein power and weight gainers. However, this can be a problem for them because most of the foods are repetitious and will eventually make them sick after a period of time.
Powerlifters need to eat enough in order to be in a state where it is conducive for them to build up or be in an anabolic state. However, a major similarity in their diets is that both powerlifters and bodybuilders eat to gain more muscles. Powerlifting undergoes several phases in their training unlike in bodybuilding. It has four phases in their periodical training program namely hypertrophy, basic strength, maximum strength and transition speed that is in preparation for the squat, bench press and deadlift events.
Before engaging in these types of sport, one must know first the difference by educating yourself. There are instances where an athlete engaged in powerlifting is more suitable to join bodybuilding and vice versa. Their differences can be a hindrance to you. So choose the sport that is best fitting to your body type, personality and limits. It is helpful for you to know your limits and capabilities before engaging in this sport because this is not your ordinary walk in the park. It takes a lot of dedication and laborious work to gain the kind of body that you wish to have. |
