Nutrition -The Other Side Of The Body Building Equation

There are fallacies and myths that many inexperienced gym enthusiasts believe in. One of which is that only lifting weights will cause muscles to grow. That statement is partially true. Lifting weights is only part of the process of building up muscles. On the other side of the equation is nutrition which helps fuels the cells with nutrients.

Food is important in body building because it provides nutrients to make the body perform the metabolic activity. This is sometimes referred to as “wear and tear process.” When you lift weights, you need food to give you energy and nutrients to help cells regenerate. Exercising will mean that your body will demand more nutrients and minerals.

So, what food should you eat? Your diet should be well balanced without any junk and synthetic foods. This means that you should have a fair share of carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals, protein and water. You should eat a healthy diet and like eating fruits for snacks, fresh farm products and eggs.

Body builders need a large dose of protein. Protein can be found in eggs, milk and meat products. Protein is important because it has amino acids that will help you create new tissues. The amount of protein you need to take in will depend on your workout goals. However, bear in mind that you should not overdose your body with protein because too much protein will cause gastric and renal complications. As a normal standard, 1 to 1.4 grams of protein per unit of body weight is already adequate.

Try to count the protein contained in foods that you take in. Some body builders resort to taking supplements. These supplements are advertised by companies, which claim that you can gain a lot of muscles in just a short span of time. You should be wary about this type of advertisement. More often than not, these are just clear exaggerations to get consumers to buy their products. You should know that building muscle bulk will take time and patience. It will not be achieved by taking a lot of protein. Aside from that, some of these products are synthetic products.

Synthetic products are not healthy for your body. Instead of making progress with body building, it could be a set back. Remember that you are body building because you want to stay healthy not because you want to load your body with junk. Once again, try to eat a balanced diet and don’t over exert yourself. Be patient and stay committed.
