 Ronnie Coleman - A Body Building Icon
 

Ronnie Coleman is an icon in the world of body building. He is 5’11 in height and his weight varies from 330 pounds to 275 pounds. His legs can measure up to 36 inches around, his arms 24 inches around and his chest up to 60 inches around! Coleman received many awards as a body builder.

He was born in Louisiana as Ronald Dean Coleman on May 13, 1964. After graduating high school is Bastrop High School, he took up Accounting in Grambling State University. He played football when he was in college. His coach was the famous Eddie Robinson. It is because of his background in football that staying in shape comes naturally to him and is his priority. After college, he worked as a police officer in Arlington Police Department. Until now, he is still part of the police department as a reserve.  His experience in the police force also gives him a boost in body building.

These days he is busy with training for body building contests, guest posing and several sponsorships. He supports the Inner City Games to which Arnold Schwarzenegger is a co-founder. His body building career stated when he was introduced to the owner of the Metro Flex Gym in Arlington, Brian Dobson. Coleman was convinced by Dobson to do a show. This show was the first step towards Coleman’s exposure in the body building world. Afterwards, Coleman entered contests and worked out even more.

In 1990, Coleman entered a bodybuilding contest. He won the heavyweight and overall title. He kept on participating with other body building contests that he won Mr. Olympia eight times! One of the awards he received was the Texas Navy Certificate Award from the Governor for his performance in bodybuilding and his role in the promotion of physical fitness. He received this award in 1991. While with IFBB, he won it 25 times.

He set a high standard in body building that many body builders would find it difficult to beat his record. His awards include, IFFBB World Amateur Championships, IFBB Grand Prix Russia, Joe Weider’s Pro World, IFBB Grand Prix, Grand Prix Holland and the Russian Grand Prix.

Aside from joining contests, he is the narrator of some bodybuilding videos. In some videos like “the Unbelievable”, “On The Road” and “The Cost of Redemption” shows him doing exercises and his daily routine. With his contribution and dedication to body building, Coleman is clearly an icon in body building.
