Steroids are getting attention

It’s a good thing that the general public has become aware of the dangers of using steroids; the unfortunate part is that young and upcoming athletes will think this is the way to go and will want to try it.

What’s wrong with taking Steroids?
Steroids are hormones, they cause certain activities in the body such as growth etc., and there are certain steroids that cause an enhanced performance. They are the androgenic and anabolic type of steroids and are synthetic derivates of testosterone which is a male hormone.
The synthetic versions of the natural product if taken under the care of a doctor can be used effectively to treat many serious disorders without being harmful. But the athletes taking them for performance take them in such high doses that they can seriously destroy the athlete’s health.
The diseases that come from this procedure are most dangerous and include kidney failure, cancers of different kinds, blood pressure problems and cardiovascular disease among others and are hardly worth the temporary benefit they give the individual that takes them.
How widespread is the Taking of Steroids among Youth?
The taking of steroids among teenagers has been on the rise since the 1990’s and it has been found that over a million of our youth are now involved with taking steroids. It is not only aspiring athletes that are taking these drugs but the young men are using steroids to give themselves a more masculine looking appearance.
