When women hear about weight lifting more than half of them think twice in joining because they are afraid to look less feminine and develop manly muscles. Their main concern is the bulging of unwanted muscles that would make them look less feminine.

This is understandable because people see on television women with bigger bodies than men. What they do not know is that generally men and women do not grow that big and bulky in moderate weight lifting unless they are using steroids and other enhancement drugs. What we know is common misconception. In fact, weight lifting for women has several benefits in their health and their bodies.

Weight lifting or sometimes called weight training, strength training or resistance training makes your muscles and heart stronger, gives you a leaner physique and shapes your body. Most of the women who do weight lifting are slim, healthy and do not gain unwanted muscle mass. However, to achieve the perfect body without looking like a man you should do the procedure in moderation.

Do not overdo the workout because this will not assure you of a faster effect. In worse case scenario, you may even hurt yourself in the process. It is also helpful to know the basic facts of workout and what is considered a weight lifting in moderation.

Weightlifting involves lifting and working out with weights. Basic terms that you must familiarize yourself are set and rep. A set is the number of times a rep is done while a rep is an act of raising and lowering weights in a single act of exercise. Moderate set consists of six or lower rep. This technique would improve your stamina and strength only. If this is used properly you will have a perfect body without having to gain the ugly muscles.

In one weight training session there are many sets for different exercises. Your training will gradually change to suit the type of body you want. You can concentrate a specific part of your body in which you need more improvement like the arms, legs and mid section.

Weight training can be done with the help of your trainer. Just make sure that if you decide to make your own sets of exercises you are knowledgeable enough to know what you are doing otherwise consult the experts first. It is better to seek your knowledge than suffer the consequences afterwards.
