Who Pushes Athletes To Use Steroids?

Many body builders and athletes use steroids so that they can give their performance a boost. Using steroids is banned by law and in sports competitions. There are many horrible effects of using steroids which include vomiting, jaundice, paranoia, nausea, acne, growth of extra body hair. It can have serious effects on your mental and emotional well being. Steroid users tend to become irritable, angry and are prone to depression.

These are just some of the effects of steroids. But whose fault is it that athletes are indiscriminately using steroids? Is it their coaches? One baseball player tried to lay the blame on his coach. Barry Bonds was a baseball player who aimed to beat the records of Babe Ruth and Hank Aaron. Many people speculated about the unusually good performance of Barry Bonds. Some even concluded that Barry Bonds used steroids so that he could build up muscle and hit the bat harder. Another sign that made people wonder if Bonds was using steroids was that he can easily and quickly recover from injuries.

Not many athletes would readily admit that they were using steroids because it will nullify their records. Barry Bonds vehemently denied that he took steroids but upon testing, he showed positive for steroid substance. Once the results were out, Bonds blamed his professional trainer. Bonds stated that his trainer gave him a clear substances and that he didn’t know that it was steroids. Many people found his excuse unbelievable because there are many noticeable effects of steroid usage.

Can we blame the players to want to be the best athlete around? Beating records will add to their personal glory and they will become immortals. Many athletes will try to emulate them and beat their unbeatable records. Many athletes feel the pressure to perform well in games. Other athletes who apparently felt this pressure include Jason Giambi who plays for the New York Yankees, and Mark McGwire. Once caught using steroids, these athletes will have to face the legal and medical consequences of their past acts.

Or can we blame the audience? Fans always demand better game plays and performances from their favorite players. Fans want a memorable game so that they can feel that they are part of the game. Due to this hunger for entertainment in sports, they will need to examine themselves. Are the athletes that they are cheering for the real deal or are they fake because of the steroids that they took? One bad thing about fans is that when they learn that their favorite athlete took steroids to please them, fans will lose interest in that athlete.
